Decision-making is the cornerstone of success for any business owner. Over my 25+ years of global corporate experience, spanning leadership roles in diverse industries and geographies, I have learned that effective decision-making is both an art and a science. Here are some key principles to help you make better decisions for your business.

1. Start with a Clear Objective

Clarity of purpose is the foundation of good decision-making. What are you trying to achieve? If your objective is vague, you’ll struggle to make meaningful progress. For instance, during my tenure at Prabisha Consulting, we didn’t just decide to “offer digital marketing services.” We defined our goal as “enabling businesses to leverage digital platforms for measurable growth.” This specificity allowed us to develop targeted strategies and deliver impactful results.

2. Build from First Principles

To solve complex problems, break them down into their simplest elements. This “first principles” approach helps avoid biases and encourages innovation. Instead of following industry norms, ask yourself: What is the core problem?
